Our Review of the Latest Buoyancy Aids & Lifejackets

Water safety is of absolute importance when venturing out no matter what depth the water is you should have some form of floatation device to aid you were you to find yourself in the water. The level of device required does depend upon the immediate danger of the water, for instance if a vessel is going far out into open water then it is of great importance that they have the right kind of lifejacket.

We are dedicated to bringing you the most important up to date information an all floatation devices to make sure that you are going to be the safest you can be whilst taking part in your aquatic adventures.

Spinlock Automatic Lifejackets

The Spinlock Deck Vest is a great example of a modern automatic life jacket. This innovative life jacket inflates when it comes into contact with water, a pressurised spring pierces a co2 cylinder and therefore inflating the overall jacket. The spring is held by a paper element that allows the spring to be released when it comes into contact with water. It has a seal that prevents water from spray accidentally releasing the spring and the jacket inflating. This new design is an improvement on the previous automatic life jackets that would inflate when they came into contact with water pressure, the obvious problem being that water does not have to be deep to be dangerous. The seal around the valve is a great new addition, preventing the life jacket from accidentally inflating whilst on board the vessel.

To ensure maximum security the jacket is fitted with a bright light to attract attention. To ensure maximum comfort there is the option of thigh straps to help prevent the life jacket from moving too far up the body whilst in the water. It is designed to provide plenty of movement for the wearer with maximum performance. It also has 150n of buoyancy and is CE approved insuring maximum safety and quality.

For those who are concerned about going overboard in rough weather this life jacket has a harness that attaches it to the deck for extra protection, making you feel more secure if the weather takes a turn for the worse.

Crewsaver Automatic Lifejacket

The Crewsaver Crewfit 150N Hammar Automatic lifejacket & Harness is a life jacket that inflates upon contact with water, it designed to inflate when it comes into contact with 10cm or more of water. This is an exciting new development in flotation devices because it means that even in shallow water the jacket will inflate. This is of great importance in case of accidents that include head injuries where it would not be possible to inflate the lifejacket manually. However, as with all automatic life jackets there is the option to inflate manually should any problems arise with the self inflating mechanism.

The Crewsaver lifejacket also has a special valve that means that the jacket will not inflate from sea spray or moisture in the air. The jacket is designed to inflate when it is submerged in more than 10cm of water.

It is a lifejacket and harness which means that you can be attached to the boat at all times for extra security. It is not advised to attach yourself to a speedboat in case of being dragged along under water, but if you are on a Sail boat then it can be beneficial.

Gill Compressor Vest

The Gill Compressor Vest is one of the latest design buoyancy aids, it is  a CE approved streamlined buoyancy aid. Its sleek design is a revolution in design and concept, it fits very closely to the body, unlike traditional buoyancy aids which are quite bulky and are fitted like waistcoats. The Gill Compressor Vest slips over the head and is made of neoprene which means it can stretch and comfortably fit any body size. Traditional style buoyancy aids can restrict movement and become uncomfortable whereas the Gill Compressor Vest works with the body allowing it freedom of movement and flexibility.

The close fitting design adds an extra layer of warmth to the wearer which if you are out in all weather is hugely beneficial. They can be comfortably worn over wet suits and are incredibly light weight which makes them ideal for use when canoeing or taken part in any water based activity that takes place in protected waters.

If you are a seasoned boater why not give on of these new innovative designs a try. You will find that they function to a high degree and are comfortable and are affordable.
