Keep Warm Over the Winter with Henri Lloyd Base Layers

If you are out on the water during the colder winter months it is important that you invest in some good quality base layers to keep you warm and comfortable in the coldest of seasons. Base layers are an essential piece of kit because they help to regulate your body temperature without impeding your movement. It is always better to build up a succession of thin layers that allow movement than to have one heavy thick layer that will make it difficult to move around the deck. The range from Henri Lloyd is the cold zone range and has been specifically designed for use in colder climates and seas.

It is important to maintain a constant healthy temperature in order to be performing at your best. Becoming overheated causes you to sweat and become dehydrated which will reduce your performance, if you become too cold your muscles will stop functioning as productively causing cramp and discomfort.

Clothes for a Cold Climate

Henri Lloyd have been creating deck wear for over 40 years and have created a range that is perfect for both the weekend sailor and the enthusiast who is out on the water at every given opportunity.

The Atmosphere 3 base layer is a long sleeved top that is ideal for this time of year. It has been designed to wick moisture away from the body which leaves you dry and comfortable, cotton tops do not make good base layers because the material absorbs the moisture and will become heavy and wet causing it to chaff your skin. The technology of this fabric not only removes moisture away from the body it controls the odour that accompanies that is often a result of sweating. This base layer is also available in a short sleeved version the Atmosphere 3 T-Shirt which has the same moisture wicking and temperature control technology.

The Atmosphere 3 Tight completes the cold weather base layers, these bottoms are lightweight and close fitting and are perfect for wearing underneath your sailing gear. Like the top they are moisture wicking leaving you dry and comfortable. As with the top it is not advisable to wear cotton trousers because they will become uncomfortable and start to chaff, impeding your sailing performance.

So keep yourself warm out on the water and sail safely!
