Offshore
As the designs and fabrics of marine clothing become more technically advanced, many sailors are opting to wear offshore sailing garments. This tough clothing is flexible and lighter in weight, whilst retaining the ability to withstand extreme conditions.
Durable Gore-Tex Layers
Established sailors who consistently sail coastal and offshore water, often venture further afield, embarking on ocean crossings and yacht deliveries for example. Offshore Gore-tex is the most popular choice of material for this type of mariner as it provides serious protection from the elements, but without reducing the movement of the wearer.
As with the Ocean range garments, Gore-Tex Offshore consists of a three layer construction:
- Abrasion resistant outer fabric
- Breathable membrane
- Inner lining for a laminate
Breathable Sweat Resistance
The purpose of the breathable membrane is to wick away the sweat from the body and off the clothes. Absorbent layers simply don't get the same results as they make a garment heavy and the skin too cold. The best ranges that employ this membrane design are the Musto MPX, Henri Lloyd TP3 and Gill 3 Dot ranges.
Practical Offshore Jackets
Items in the offshore sailing clothing range are both cost-effective and practical. Generally speaking, this type of apparel features reinforced Cordura elbow, knee and back pads as well as fewer pockets, so be sure to find a design that suits your requirements best.
All of our offshore products have a DWR water repellency treatment to enhance performance with can be treated with DWR conditioner.
