Deck Shoes

In today's sailing world there is a much wider choice of deck shoes and trainers due to the multitude of fabrics available to manufacturers. Companies such as Sebago and Dubarry are in strong competition to push the boundaries of design, quality and price.

Deck Grip Soles

The main function of your deck shoe is to prevent slipping on deck. A non-slip sole has an intricate series of interconnecting channels allowing water to be siphoned away from the points of impact in serveral different directions, while simultaneously preventing aquaplaning. The most common style of this method is known as 'razor cut'. However, the Dubarry 'outsole', used for all Dubarry deck shoes and boots, is a design that replicates Formula 1 tyre technology.

Durable Mid Soles

Mid-soles for more expensive marine footwear are, in most cases, made from a variety of materials offering benefits such as shock absorbency, durability and underfoot comfort to keep you on your feet and active on deck. Finally, your sole need to be non-marking to prevent ruining the skipper's winter scrubbing! Fortunately, all of our marine footwear range has non-slip non marking soles as standard.

Value Leather Footwear

All deck shoes made from water-resistant leathers with low water-absorption properties, keeping your footwear lighter in wet conditions. There are two popular styles of leather finish, either standard shiny leather or nubuck, which has the top layer of leather removed for a matt/suede finish.
