Dinghy Boots

Dinghy boots are an essential piece of equipment for any dinghy or keel boat sailor where warmth, agility and reinforcement is required.

Light Dinghy Shoes

This area of sailing often involves capsizing or moving in smaller areas of the deck where tall boots are too cumbersome and immediately fill with water. As a result, the top sailing clothing manufacturers produce neoprene (wet suit material) boots to adapt to dinghy usage. Essentially, they are an extension to a sailing wetsuit with razor-cut soles, 5mm neoprene (winter thickness) and extra thick rubber in certain areas - for example at the top of foot - to support additional activities such as hiking.

Warm Water Soles

It is also recommended to choose a boot with ankle supports and flatlock stitching to increase comfort. Regarding sizes, your boot should be a snug fit with minimal gaps inside and around the ankle as the warmth is produced by water retained inside the boot. If the boots are marked as dual sized, try to stick to your usual fit, even if it is the smaller of the two. Douglas Gill offer an extensive range of dinghy boots including the ever-popular Aquatech shoe that can also be used as leisurewear for the beach and especially ideal for kids.
